Guest speaker at Tatura Rotary Club’s weekly dinner on August 21 was Alfred Heuperman, a member of Tatura Community House Committee, who was introduced by Jen Pagon.
Mr Heuperman spoke about the committee’s efforts to raise funds to produce plaques identifying people shown in the mosaic murals in Stuart Mock Place.
He said the committee was also planning to print an information booklet about the murals.
Mr Heuperman said Tatura Men’s Shed members would install the plaques, saving the committee $500 in installation fees.
He said Greater Shepparton City Council had agreed to meet half the cost of $4000 with a matching grant and the remaining funds must be raised locally.
Mr Heuperman inquired if the Rotary Club would be prepared to contribute all or part of the $2000 needed. The Community House request is due to be discussed at tomorrow night’s board meeting.
After questions, Mr Heuperman was ‘‘presented’’ with the promise of a Rotary mug.
At the dinner, treasurer Ken Parks advised that the final profit figure for this year’s Art Show was $17 485.50.
