New umpire recruits at Hill Top
Hill Top Bowls Clun in tatura now has three accredited bowls umpires.
Hill Top Bowls Club has two new umpires now accredited with Goulburn Valley Bowls.
Jeanette Overall and Trevor Downie have received their accreditation after successfully completing the umpires course and exam.
The course sessions are conducted once a week for six weeks and an exam has to be completed successfully at the end in order for the accreditation to be awarded.
The club is fortunate to now have three accredited umpires as Sue Clement has also been re-accredited for another four-year term, while Freda Clement from Tatura Bowls Club also fully commits to the work required of an umpire.
Sue, who has been an umpire for the past 10 years, said umpiring enables her to make a rewarding and satisfying contribution to the game.
‘‘I’ve learnt a lot about the laws of the game and that an umpire is present to settle disputes,’’ she said.
‘‘I hope Jeanette and Trevor get the same satisfaction out of umpiring that I do.’’
Anyone interested in completing the Umpires Accreditation Course can contact Goulburn Valley Bowls Division umpires committee chairman Doug Maconachie.
