Brian Spencer will be inducted as the minister of the Waranga Parish of the Uniting Church on Thursday, September 19.
The Waranga Parish includes the congregations of Tatura, Toolamba, Murchison, Colbinabbin and Rushworth.
The induction, to be conducted by North East Victoria Presbytery chair Reverend Martin Wright will take place at 7.30 pm at Murchison Uniting Church.
Everyone is invited to attend, and a plate for supper would be appreciated.
Mr Spencer has been filling, on a supply basis, the vacancy that occurred following Reverend Charity Majiza’s move to Echuca/Moama.
He has accepted the invitation from the Parish, which was endorsed by the Uniting Church’s Synod Placement Committee, to be the Waranga Parish’s minister on an ongoing basis.
As Mr Spencer wrote to the Waranga Parish in his letter of acceptance, ‘‘I appreciate the support I have received through the congregations during my time of supply ministry.
‘‘. . . I feel a strong call to ministry with the Waranga Uniting Churches and assure you I will employ all of my prayers, energies and abilities, in conjunction with the gifts of members, to build up the community of faith so that we may have a strong and faithful presence in our communities.
‘‘I pray that this is the beginning of a fruitful journey for all of us.’’
