Men's Shed signs memorandum
The Tatura Community House Incorporated Committee and the Tatura Men's Shed Steering Committee have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Tatura Men's Shed project.
By Bob NicolA Memorandum of Understanding was signed today, providing guidance on how the Tatura Community House Incorporated Committee and the Tatura Men’s Shed Steering Committee would work together to establish the Tatura Men’s Shed project.
The MoU was signed Gail Gillis, president of the Tatura Community House Inc, and Allan Johnston, president of the Tatura Men’s Shed Steering Committee.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed by Mr Johnston, on behalf of the Tatura Men’s Shed, with Greater Shepparton City Council on Monday, to allow the new building to go ahead, which he said should be completed by the end of June.
The Tatura Men’s Shed received a $30,000 State Government grant for the project, which was matched by Greater Shepparton City Council.
Ms Gillis said the Tatura Men’s Shed Steering Committee was formed in 2010 to establish a men’s shed in the town.
She said TCH formally agreed to auspice the establishment of the project and for the (TMS) steering committee to operate with independence as an activity of TCH and within the policies of TCH.
‘‘By operating as an activity of TCH, the steering committee is able to use the legal status of TCH as an incorporated association for receipt of funds, grants, financial management, insurance cover and the employment of staff if necessary,’’ Ms Gillis said.
