As reported last week, the annual Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, October 13, was deemed a huge success with 220 overall participants, including 23 in the 10 km run and 27 families.
Spokesperson Leanne Houkes-Wilson said this year’s event raised $1600, after taking out the cost of signage which they will now have for future events.
These funds will go towards the purchase of specialised chairs for the residents.
Ms Houkes-wilson acknowledged a separate donation of $3000 made on the day by members of the San Donato Festa Committee.
‘‘This donation was much appreciated by the staff and residents, and will be used for the purchase of new pressure mattresses for residents,’’ she said.
San Donato Festa Committee president Joe Gagliardi said the committee was happy to make the donation of $3000 to Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care facility, which were part of the funds raised from this year’s San Donato Festa.
‘‘The committee has also donated $2500 to the GV Hospice, and funds are still to be allocated to the Royal Children’s Hospital,’’ he said.
‘‘The committee is happy to look after and assist those in the community less fortunate than ourselves, and support those people who support us (San Donato Festa).’’
Ms Houkes-Wilson said the committee was still receiving donations following the fun run and anyone who might wish to assist with a donation can phone the hospital on 5824 8400.
‘‘The committee would like to thank all who participated in the run/walk, the volunteers on the barbecue and around the track and especially the eight members from the Tatura Men’s Shed who acted as marshals,’’ she said.
Joe and Lina Gagliardi, Mary Lagozzino and Gina Lopiccolo representing the San Donato Festa donated $3000 to Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla on Sunday, October 13.
