Steve Gagliardi is putting his 17 years involvement in the food industry to good use, by setting up a mobile food van at Tatura’s Independent Fuel Supplies in Ross St.
Mr Gagliardi, a chef by trade, set up the business, ‘The Coffee Snack Bar’, a fortnight ago and has had a great reaction so far.
‘‘People love the idea,’’ Mr Gagliardi said.
‘‘I sell a wide variety of hot foods including chips and burgers, cold drinks and of course coffee. It’s a bit like a fish and chip shop but outdoors.’’
Mr Gagliardi said the business offered cheap, affordable meals that were cooked fresh daily, along with outdoor seats and table for those who preferred to sit down and enjoy their meal.
‘‘I try to make a good affordable meal for the passing trade, and cater for any locals who want to pop in for something on the run,’’ he said.
While his short-term aim is to cater for local and passing trade, Mr Gagliardi eventually hopes to ‘‘get my name out there’’ and extend the business to catering for markets, fairs and festivals, or anything else throughout the Goulburn Valley.
‘‘I am only too happy to oblige if people need my services,’’ he said.
As the van is mobile, Mr Gagliardi said it made any catering job a simple task.
‘‘I can take it anywhere, particularly to outside functions because it is easy to set up,’’ he said.
Currently the van is set up from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm daily, however times could vary depending on the seasons.
For more information or inquiries on the van’s availability phone Mr Gagliardi on 0447 755 056 or .
