Aspiring school captain and Year 5 student Chelsea Coonerty said she was looking forward to looking out for a buddy next year.

‘‘It will be a big step for me and help me in the leadership role I want to take up next year,’’ she said.

Assistant principal Tracey Ritchie said the school placed emphasis on a transition program to help students entering prep feel comfortable with the friendship of a Year 6 buddy.
