Woman injured in Channel Rd crash
An 84-year-old woman who was injured in a crash last night died in hospital this morning.
By Kaitlin ThalsUPDATE, 4.09pm: Following last night’s crash, the Shepparton woman was taken to Goulburn Valley Base Hospital for observation.
She was then airlifted to The Alfred in Melbourne where she died this morning about 10.48am.
8.59am: An 84-year-old Shepparton woman steered her car into a ditch last night just metres from her home.
Shepparton police Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Richard Ivory said the woman was travelling east on Channel Rd when she failed to negotiate a bend and landed in a ditch about 10.30pm.
Ldg Sen Const Ivory said following the crash the woman was unconscious and paramedics recovered her.
He said she was relatively unscathed besides a cut to her head.
