Police have appealed for information from the community after an aggravated break and enter at a home in Tocumwal on Tuesday.
About 2.10am on Tuesday, a 44-year-old woman heard her dog barking and when she went outside, she was confronted in her backyard by six male offenders.
One offender pointed a knife towards the woman’s dog and grabbed it. When the woman told them to release her dog they put the animal down and grabbed her.
Two of men have entered the home and attacked a 45-year-old man who was able to fight off the intruders and barricade himself in a spare bedroom.
The offenders fled in two vehicles – a white hatchback and white sedan. Both vehicles were last seen heading west along Hill Street towards the Newell Hwy.
The offenders wore dark clothing with hoodies and scarves covering their faces.
Police from Deniliquin Local Area Command attended and searched the area, however the offenders were not located.
The 45-year-old man has been treated for facial injuries, neck injuries and grazing. The 44-year-old woman was not injured in the attack.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
