Shepparton experiencing fickle spring weather.By Chloe Warburton
Shepparton has shivered through cold and soaked up the sun this month as spring reminds us how fickle it can be.
Electric blankets were turned back on Monday night and yesterday morning as the temperature dropped to its lowest for this month at 0.8°C.
But it was only last week this month’s highest temperature was recorded, 28.5°C on Thursday.
Today’s temperature is expected to creep back up to a top of 27°C, but it will plummet again tomorrow with a high of 17°C and a shower or two forecast.
While most people are wondering what they should wear every day to combat the fluctuating temperatures, Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Dean Stewart said it was typical of spring.
‘‘The inland can be quite warm at this time of year, with temperatures in the Alice Springs area getting to 40°C, and the northerly wind brings that down,’’ he said. ‘‘But the ocean temperatures to the south are still quite cold .
‘‘So our spring days can be a bit mixed up in temperature.
‘‘It’s not that unusual, but you tend to forget how changeable the weather can be at this time of year.’’
