Flash flooding inundated cars and shops on St George’s Rd yesterday afternoon.
Shepparton’s Kamal Deep Singh, who owns the St George’s Rd Milk Bar and Post Office, said heavy rain shortly before 6
His car was parked on the east side of the road when it was inundated with water.
‘‘This is a total failure of the drainage system,’’ Mr Deep Singh said.
‘‘We just have so much rain in half an hour and the drainage system is just not taking it away.’’
The Indian grocery in the same stretch of shops was also flooded and stock had been ruined.
Mr Deep Singh said he had lived in the area for about a year and had not experienced flooding like this before.
‘‘The water is up to our knees,’’ he said.
‘‘If we get more rain it’s going to come inside our shops.
‘‘It (the drainage) needs to be fixed.’’
