Let the Sunshine, written by award winning Australian playwright David Williamson, has been described as part Romeo and Juliet, part Meet the Parents.
Full of witty one-liners, this satirical comedy is set in Noosa.
Toby and Ros are retired left wing radicals who flee to the upmarket Sunshine Coast seaside town to escape scandal in Sydney.
There they meet Natasha and Ron – a shallow socialite and a brash property developer.
When their children find romance together, the patter of tiny feet brings on the clashing of egos.
In typical Williamson fashion, it’s on for young and old.
Let the Sunshine has broad appeal and is sure to have you in fits of laughter from the very first minute.
Greater Shepparton City Council manager performing arts and conventions Steve Donelly said the show was enjoyable with plenty of humour.
‘‘Yet, it also touches on deeper themes concerning how ideologies get passed down to new generations and yet the world moves on regardless,’’ he said.
Starring well-known Australian actor Peter Phelps (Stingers) alongside the talent of Alexandra Fowler (All Saints), Dennis Coard (Home & Away), Toni Scanlan (Water Rats), Ryan Hayward (Casualty) and Hannah Norris (My name is Rachael Corrie).
Let the Sunshine is on Wednesday, February 29 at 8pm, at the WestSide Performing Arts Centre, Echuca Rd, Mooroopna.
Admission is Full $37 Concession $31 Student $20 / Non-Members: Full $46 Concession $38 Student $25.
Riverlinks offer a free shuttle bus service from the Eastbank Centre to the WestSide Performing Arts Centre.
