Goulburn Valley residents converged on Tatura yesterday for a slice of la dolce vita, as the town held its annual Italian Plate Festival race meet.

Racegoers donned their finest frocks, fascinators and suits to enjoy a day of races and Fashions on the Field.

In the main race, Mansfield trainer Gerald Egan celebrated his second Italian Plate win in three years after Jetconi held off the fast finishing Royal Mephisto and Leveraction.

Off the track Mooroopna’s Laura Barresi took out the top award in the Fashions on the Field.

The day celebrates the Mediterranian heritage of many of the region’s inhabitants and also includes the Albert Scrmizzi Memorial.
