The big screen returns to Euroa
Euroa Community Cinema, run by a dedicated band of 24 volunteers, has returned to screening much-loved films after the holiday break.
After a short break over the Christmas period, Euroa Community Cinema has returned to screening much-loved films.
Run by a dedicated band of 24 volunteers, the cinema regularly attracts a big crowd, especially on Friday nights and family nights.
The beautiful art-deco building attracts people with its old-school cinema feel, and many people will wait until a film is screened at Euroa rather than head to a regular cinema out of town.
Cinema manager and volunteer Judi Hanlon said a lot of research went into choosing which films to screen, and she often received recommendations from people while she was shopping down the street.
‘‘A lot of people will let me know what they would like to see,’’ Ms Hanlon said.
‘‘The video store in town closed in about 2008, which has seen more people coming to the cinema and requesting certain films.
‘‘We also try to run some really interesting films that the regular cinemas won’t.’’
Euroa Community Cinema screens films on Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 4pm, and selected films on Fridays at 6pm. Tickets cost $9 each, with no charge for children under school age.
Euroa Community Cinema is in Bury St, Euroa; for more information phone 57950000 or visit euroa.cinema@strathbogie.vic.gov.au
