A 15-year-old boy was knocked unconscious in a brawl that broke out during an out-of-control house party on Saturday night.
Shepparton police Sergeant Michael Osmond said police were called to the Morrish Rd, Shepparton house party at 11.47
He said the boy was assaulted, but witnesses were unco-operative.
Ambulance Victoria spokesperson John Mullen said paramedics were called to nearby Palmer Rd at 11.46
He was taken to Goulburn Valley Base Hospital in a critical condition and later discharged.
Sgt Osmond said a heavily intoxicated 17-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with resisting arrest, failing to supply his name and address, and indecent language. A 16-year-old boy was arrested at a nearby restaurant and also charged.
Sgt Osmond said adults supervising parties needed to keep a close watch on alcohol and attendance numbers.
‘‘Obviously alcohol was present and police found a number of alcohol-affected youths, the ones that have been arrested were underage,’’ he said.
‘‘Those that are running the parties need to keep a close watch on how many people are attending, who are invited and any alcohol use.’’
He urged people not to advertise their parties on Facebook and to use the Party Safe register.
