Shepparton police Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Anthony Jasinowicz said the fire started about 2am yesterday and burned about 150m of grass on Pyke Rd.

Country Fire Authority duty officer Shane Sutton said three brigades from Tatura, Toolamba and Mooroopna attended the fire for about 30 minutes. Det Sen Const Jasinowicz said the situation was frustrating.

Yesterday’s fire follows 12 other blazes since February 3, including one on Craven Rd that sparked 200m from a home.

‘‘It’s most likely linked to the spate of fires ... it’s getting out of hand,’’ he said.

Det Sen Const Jasinowicz said public information was vital to inquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to phone Shepparton police on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
