It is the 15th year Jacqui Hudgson’s family has braved the elements and camped outside Lovell’s Shepparton Newsagency overnight for grand final tickets.
Her father Peter took the first shift at 5.30
But the Shepparton resident and Hawthorn fanatic said it was all worth it to secure first place in the queue and the elusive tickets.
‘‘We’ve got fantastic seats; the best seats in the AFL,’’ Ms Hudgson, 39, said.
‘‘We moved back to Victoria in 1982 and I’ve probably missed three grand finals since.’’
Ms Hudgson said her family were the only people game enough to camp outside this year.
‘‘Normally there’s a couple of other people, but this year it was purely our family.’’
She said a typical grand final day for her family started at 10
‘‘If Hawthorn win we’ll drink more champagne,’’ Ms Hudgson said.
She said she had high hopes for Hawthorn’s chances against Fremantle.
‘‘To beat Geelong last week was a massive effort and I’m hoping that after losing last year’s grand final, they’ll be determined to win,’’ she said.
