St Luke's Primary School student Lidia Amadei, 7.

A group of students had a day of explosions and experiments in the name of science last week.

St Luke’s Catholic Primary School students finished their term’s subject on Friday with a visit from Mr Science, who put his own spin on all things scientific.

Teacher Chris Summers said the Year 2 and 3 students had spent the term conducting their own experiments.

‘‘We’ve been doing model volcanoes, Mentos and Coke and lots of mixing of bi-carb soda and vinegar,’’ Mr Summer said.

‘‘They’ve really been learning about how things change.’’

Mr Science, who also goes by Damian Smith, taught students about topics including Van de Graaff generators, gravity and pressure.
