A team of 26 from Wilmot Rd Primary School will take part in Sunday’s Pink Ribbon Charity Run at Shepparton’s Victoria Park Lake in honour of a staff member recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
The team consists of 19 staff members and seven family members.
School assistant principal Simone Higgins said it was the first time staff members had participated in the run and their response to her proposal had been fantastic.
‘‘We wanted to support something that touches most people,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s a great cause to support and get behind and recently hit home with what’s happening.’’
She said 21 team members would wear pink T-shirts with ‘‘Doing it for the girls’’ written on the back.

Mrs Higgins said the staff member battling breast cancer would be cheering for the team on Sunday.
