By Chloe Warburton

About 80 people lended a hand with a good hand of poker this month to raise money for Katunga Primary School.

The Katunga Poker Run was held on March 3 and raised $1800 for the school, which will go towards a swimming program and a free fruit program, as well as other learning supplies.

Organiser Brett Vanderburg said the poker run took in several local hotels and participants rode between venues on motorcycles, in cars and on a bus.

‘‘All the hotels we stopped at put a good spread on for us and donated their services, as well as offered prizes – we really appreciated it,’’ Mr Vanderburg said.

The event was held for the first time in 2012 in support of the school and organisers hope it will get bigger when they hold it again next year.
