Booming thunder and spectacular lightning put on a show yesterday morning, but meteorologists say it failed to produce much rain.

The bureau last night issued a minor flood warning for Strathbogie.
Seven Creeks at Strathbogie was expected to exceed the minor flood level of 1.5
A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for the Mallee, Wimmera and parts of the South West and Northern Country forecast districts.
Shepparton, Echuca, Euroa and most of the Goulburn Valley are in the Northern Country district.
Duty forecaster Tracey Malmborg said the storm was the result of band that moved from far west Victoria to the north-east.
‘‘We’re expecting that rain to pretty much continue on Tuesday, and Tuesday and Wednesday are the main days for thunderstorms,’’ Ms Malmborg said yesterday.
‘‘There will be a risk of a shower or two on Thursday and then it should be pretty good by Friday and Saturday, with a possible brief shower on Saturday.’’
Victorian State Emergency Service spokesman Toby Borella said activity in the Hume region was minimal.
He said the service had not received any calls for assistance from Shepparton.
‘‘It’s been very quiet, with only four requests for assistance in the area,’’ Mr Borella said.
They included two trees down in traffic in Moorilim and one in Arcadia.
‘‘With more storms we may see that figure increase but at this stage it remains quiet, which is a good sign that people are preparing their homes and properties (from storms),’’ Mr Borella said.
However, the storm did have an impact on local radio station One FM, with a lightning strike on the station’s aerial knocking it off the air for about five minutes.
The booming thunder had readers talking on The News’ Facebook page, with many saying they were woken by the storm.
