UPDATE 7.09pm: Goulburn Valley Hwy is still closed following the fatal plane crash this afternoon. Traffic is being detoured via Kialla Lakes Dve, Archer Rd and River Rd. VicRoads emergencry are onsite directing traffic. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.
The Goulburn Valley Hwy is expected to remain closed until Saturday morning.
UPDATE 3.36pm: Two people are confirmed dead following a plane crash in Kialla this afternoon.
The two men are yet to be formally identified.
UPDATE, 3.25pm: Traffic is being diverted around the scene via Kialla Lakes Drive, Archer Rd and River Rd.
Shepparton detectives have joined uniform police and police have established a cordon around the scene.
UPDATE, 2.50pm: Police advise the Goulburn Valley Hwy has been closed in both directions near Raftery Rd, due to a major incident. Emergency services are on scene directing traffic and drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.
2.26pm: Police and emergency services have been called to a plane crash near the Goulburn Valley Hwy this afternoon.
The plane crashed 100m south of the entrance to the Shepparton airport just before 2.30pm.
Traffic on the Goulburn Valley Hwy has been stopped on all lanes.
The Country Fire Authority, police and MICA paramedics are on scene.
