One man has died and another was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital after a two-car crash at Harston last night.
Shepparton police Acting Sergeant Michelle De Araugo said the accident, which occurred about 6.15
Sgt De Araugo said a gold Ford utility was travelling west on Harston Rd and a white Mitsubishi utility was travelling south on Springvale Rd when they collided.
The driver of the white utility, a 64-year-old man, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene, she said.
Sgt De Araugo said it was believed he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The driver of the gold utility, a 38-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne in a serious condition, she said.
MICA team manager Michael Whelan said the 38-year-old man sustained suspected spinal injuries.
Sgt De Araugo said she believed both men lived locally and there was a ‘‘fair chance’’ they were known to each other.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles, she said.
Sgt De Araugo urged drivers to take care on the roads.
‘‘We’re a week and a half off Easter and (we’re) just urging people to be careful, just take that extra bit of care,’’ she said.
Police from Shepparton, Tatura, Kyabram and Mooroopna attended the scene, as well as paramedics and State Emergency Service and Country Fire Authority crews.
Police will continue to investigate the incident.
