Nov 1967: The magic of girdles

An ad from a November 1967 edition of The News espouses the benefits of looking 5 lb. lighter with a girdle.

A new Playtex "magic control girdle" was set to be the saviour of women in November 1967.

The ad promises anyone who wore it would look 5 lb. thinner thanks to "exclusive Fingertip panels" that controlled the belly without the usual boning or stays of girdles.

And the best part? It dries in a "jiffy" and was worth only $7.95!
