The Mooroopna Recreation Reserve stadium was transformed into a circus this month for Jets Gymnastics’ fifth annual display day.
The event showcased the talents of about 350 Jets gymnasts across three sessions.
Jets Gymnastics centre manager Jacci Johnson said the circus theme was a hit with the crowd.
She said spectators entered the building through a circus marquee and there was also a popcorn machine.
‘‘There was lots of colour and lots of clowns,’’ Mrs Johnson said.
‘‘The instructors did little comedy skits in between the children’s performances to keep the circus theme going.
‘‘We had them juggling — or pretending to juggle — and tumblers doing big flips.’’
Mrs Johnson said she was particularly proud of her students’ enthusiasm.
‘‘We’re not like a dance company where we spend a lot on costuming,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s not about spending a lot of money. So just how they came dressed up was great. They made a huge effort.’’
Mrs Johnson said entry to the annual display day was via gold coin donation.
Jets used the money to buy new equipment, she said.
‘‘The proceeds will go towards our own sound system, because usually we have to hire one,’’ she said.
She said it would be difficult to top this year’s show.
‘‘The pressure’s on for next year because this one was so good,’’ she said.
‘‘We got nothing but rave reviews throughout the day.’’
