A man attempting to withdraw cash at a Mooroopna ATM was last night held at knife point.

Shepparton Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Mark Berens said the victim was attempting to use a Mooroopna ATM about 9.30pm Thursday when an offender allegedly put him in a choker hold and demanded $20.

He said when the victim refused to give him money, the offender produced a knife and demanded $50 cash.

He said the offender then took the victim’s ATM card and tried to force him to provide his pin.

Det Sen Const Berens said the victim managed to get away unharmed.

A 37-year-old Tatura man has been charged with armed robbery, resisting arrest and using a drug of dependence.
