Illegal weapons found

A man has been arrested after police found allegedly illegal weapons at a Mooroopna business.

March 7, 2014 4:21am

Shepparton police Divisional Tasking Unit Sergeant Matt Hunt said officers executed a search warrant at the property about 10.50am on Wednesday and found three BB guns and a small quantity of illegal fireworks.

‘‘They’re pellet pistols, they look like real handguns, but they fire gas or air-propelled pellets,’’ he said.

Sgt Hunt said the items were allegedly hidden in car tyres.

He said a Mooroopna man, 49, was arrested and released pending further inquiries.

He said police expect to charge the man on summons.
