Goulburn Valley Grammar School students Monique Pankhurst (left, who plays Maria) and Wilson O'Meara (Captain von Trapp) will star in the school's production of The Sound of Music this week.

Goulburn Valley Grammar School will bring the story of Austria’s most famous musical family — the von Trapps — to Mooroopna’s WestSide Performing Arts Centre tomorrow until Saturday.

Musical director Genevieve Bihun said students from Year 6 to Year 12 had been rehearsing The Sound of Music since February.

‘‘Many students didn’t know about The Sound of Music beforehand, but now they all love it,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s been a tremendous 12 weeks of hard work, laughter and fun times.

‘‘I think that accumulates into a fantastic show that the Shepparton community would like to see.’’

The Sound of Music will be performed at WestSide Performing Arts Centre tomorrow, Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $15 and are available through Goulburn Valley Grammar School’s main office, phone 58218155.
