Firefighters isolate leak on Corio St.ALEXANDRA BOLKAS May 14, 2014 3:04am
Emergency services were at the scene of a gas leak in central Shepparton yesterday morning.
Shepparton Country Fire Authority station officer Mark Vallance said residents reported smelling gas on Erskine St at about 8.30
He said CFA did air monitoring and isolated the leak to Corio St where the gas concentration and smell was stronger.
He said contractors employed to upgrade Corio St’s water main cut the gas main.
‘‘Contractors were digging a hole and cut through the gas main in the process,’’ Mr Vallance said.
He said the gas company isolated the leak about 9.50
Corio St was blocked between Rea and Knight Sts while the gas leak was identified.
Country Fire Authorities’ Hazardous Response Unit, Shepparton CFA tanker and police were on scene.
