Record entries at Australian National Show and Shine car event.By John Lewis
Sunday’s Australian National Show and Shine event at Euroa was so big organisers ran out of space for vehicle entries on the Seven Creeks Park site.
‘‘It was an absolute ripper of a day,’’ show president John Mason said.
‘‘We had to turn people away from the show area. We had no more room,’’ he said.
Mr Mason said the event attracted a record 1057 vehicle entries and an estimated crowd of 8000.
‘‘That was more than double last year’s crowd,’’ Mr Mason said.
He said show committee members had worked hard to ensure the event was a family-friendly affair with plenty to do for everyone.
‘‘Even the miniature railway was packed. They had three trains and they were going flat out all day,’’ Mr Mason said.
He said he was congratulated by national motoring magazine Unique Carseditor Phil Walker on the day’s success.
‘‘He said, ‘This is the best family car show I have ever been to,’’’ Mr Mason said.
He said authorities had been alerted about minor power outages that affected some traders.
‘‘There was just too much power being used. Council knows about it, and it will be rectified next year,’’ Mr Mason said.
