November 30, 2012 9:17am

Drug offences in the Shepparton area have increased by 56.2 per cent in the past 12 months.

Victoria’s latest crime statistics were released by Victoria Police today and compare results from the 12 months to September 2012 with the 12 months to September 2011.

Assaults also increased by 11.9 per cent, but assaults excluding family violence dropped by 7.7 per cent.

Shepparton police inspector Ian Bull said the data revealed some “fairly positive” trends for Greater Shepparton, with decreases recorded in many areas of volume crime, despite an increase of 3.1 per cent in total offences.
