Cobram police warn businesses about security

Cobram police are warning business owners not to leave cash on premises overnight after a spate of burglaries.

Cobram police have warned business owners not to leave cash on premises overnight after a spate of burglaries in the town.

Cobram-Barooga Visitor Information Centre had money taken on Sunday morning after thieves broke a window to gain access to the Station St building.

Senior Constable Leigh Jeffs said police had been pushing to get information to the community after a spate of burglaries and it was frustrating another break-in had occurred.

‘‘We’re trying for businesses to not leave any cash on the premises overnight or on the weekend. Make sure premises are secure,’’ Sen Const Jeffs said.

‘‘We’re after any information from the public because obviously someone in Cobram knows that someone has a whole heap of cash, which is no doubt out of the ordinary.’’

He said several burglaries of businesses had taken place during the past two months.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour or anyone with information that may help solve the crimes should phone Cobram Police Station on 58711977 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
