A Tatura woman was shocked to find a tyre had been stolen off her car this week.By Rhiannon Gavalakis
Tatura mother Jemma Stagg was shocked to discover her car hoisted up on bricks and a tyre missing on Wednesday.
Ms Stagg, 26, said she finished work to find the right rear tyre of her white Holden Commodore had been removed.
She said she had fixed a flat tyre — not the one that was removed — the same day.
‘‘I’d just been to Kmart Tyres and spent $80 replacing the flat one and then yesterday I had to replace the stolen one, which was another $80,’’ she said.
‘‘I feel really disappointed and disgusted that someone could do this.’’
She said she moved her car to the Tatura Foodworks park off Hogan St during her lunch break about 2
She said a colleague noticed the tyre was missing about 2.30
However, Ms Stagg was unaware until she went to her car after finishing work about 5.30
‘‘I had to pick up my son from a Mooroopna day care (after I finished work) and I couldn’t do that,’’ she said.
‘‘I had to call his Nana to get her to pick him up so he wouldn’t be stuck there.’’
Ms Stagg said some good came out of the bad situation, with friends and police offering to help her find a tyre to get her car home that evening.
Tatura police Leading Senior Constable William Hayes said the stolen tyre had not been recovered and investigations were ongoing.
Ldg Sen Const Hayes said the incident was disappointing.
‘‘People like to think they can leave their motor vehicles parked securely and come back without them being damaged,’’ he said.
