Car and train collide near Murchison East
A car and a train have collided 6km south of Murchison East.
Update: 3.16pm.
No passengers were injured in the car and train accident near Murchison East. They are being taken by bus to their destination.
The train driver has been taken by taxi back to Melbourne.
The damage to the train is being assessed.
Other trains will be stopping at Seymour and passengers will be taken by bus to Shepparton.
Breaking: 2.08pm
An accident between a car and passenger train occurred near where Morningside Rd meets the old Goulburn Valley Hwy this afternoon. The car was travelling west. It was a south-bound train.
The single occupant of the vehicle is out of the vehicle and is believed to be in a critical condition. The air ambulance has arrived at the scene.
The train is extensively damaged. "At this stage we can only presume no-one on the train is injured," Sergeant Graeme Callaghan said.
Passengers of the train have remained in the carriages.
