Motorsport fans will get double the enjoyment at this weekend’s Wangaratta Speedway meeting – with cars and motorbikes on the start list for a full night of racing.
Motorbikes — both solos and sidecars, are racing in Wangaratta for the first time this season, with competitors from the Broadford Motorcycle Club battling it out on the oval track.
With the recent hot weather the track should be in top condition.
Four-wheeled fans will see the local GOS category cars for the first time this season, as well as GP midgets, standard saloons and juniors.
Vic sports sedan drivers will be fine-tuning their machines on the night, in preparation for their Victorian State Title to be held in Wangaratta on February 25.
The compact speedcars and sidecar motorbikes will have their state titles on the same night, while the standard saloon drivers are gearing up for their state title on March 10 and 11.
Gates open for spectators at 12pm and racing will start at 4pm until 11pm.
All categories will race several times during the night, with finals at the end of the program to follow the preliminary heats.
Entry to the track is $20 for adults, $15 for pensioners, and children under 16 admitted free if accompanied by an adult.
There will be full commentary, an event program and catering facilities, and access to the pits for those interested in taking a closer look at the competing cars, and for a chance to meet the drivers.
