Call for witnesses to alleged armed robbery

Police are appealing for information about an alleged armed robbery near Knight St, Shepparton this afternoon.

Police are appealing to the public for information about an alleged armed robbery near Knight St this afternoon.

Detective Senior Constable Shane Kervin said a man started a conversation with two other men on the corner of Wyndham and Knight Sts, Shepparton, about 1pm.

He said the man got in a car with the two men and a male driver and was taken east along Knight St before turning into a side street past Notre Dame College.

The man told police one of the men produced a knife and stole his wallet.

Det Sen Const Kervin said the alleged theft occured in the middle of the day at a busy intersection.

''I’m hoping someone might have seen something,'' he said.

The men were described as being between 18 and 25.  

One male was described as muscular but thin, with a mohawk-style haircut and a large tattoo on the side of his neck.

The second male is described as southern European in appearance, with long hair shaved hair on the side and broad shoulders.

The third male is described as being of Aghfan appearance.
