A Mooroopna businessman says he will ‘‘name and shame’’ the people who smashed his window this week.
By Kristin FavaloroA Mooroopna businessman says he will ‘‘name and shame’’ the people who smashed his window this week.
Talisman Menswear owner Paul Jerome has taken drastic steps to catch the vandals and has posted security camera pictures on his shop window and footage online at the business’ Facebook page.
‘‘I think ‘stuff them’,’’ Mr Jerome said.
‘‘If they can breach my civil liberties, I can breach theirs.
‘‘I’m happy to name and shame, I just want to be spot on before I do.’’
Mr Jerome is calling on the community to come to his shop at 74 McLennan St, Mooroopna to view the pictures or search Talisman Menswear on Facebook.
Yesterday a steady stream of Mooroopna residents visited the shop with some believing they could identify the vandals.
The security footage shows four youths walk past the shop, before one returns about 10 seconds later and kicks the window.
The News has covered the face of the offenders because they may be underage.
It is the fourth time the window at Talisman Menswear has been smashed, costing Mr Jerome thousands of dollars.
‘‘It’s just wanton vandalism and sadly it costs us a lot,’’ Mr Jerome said.
‘‘It’s $4500 to replace the window and my insurance premium has gone from $1700 to over $3000 and each time I have to pay the GST because insurance doesn’t cover GST.
‘‘Then there’s the window sign, you can’t just do one because it doesn’t match.’’
The window was smashed at 11.45
Not long after, thieves broke into a Mooroopna service station stealing cigarettes.
Crime Scene Services Leading senior Constable Jeff Wren said the burglars used bricks to smash the front door and gain entry.
Yesterday Mooroopna police called on the public to help them with information.
