Boys in Shepparton fire still hospitalised

Two young boys flown to Melbourne on Wednesday night are still in critical and serious conditions after a Shepparton house fire.

A spokesperson from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne last night said one boy remained in a critical condition and one was in a serious condition.

The two boys, aged 1 and 2, suffered smoke inhalation after a fire at a Leithen St address on Wednesday.

They were taken to Goulburn Valley Base Hospital, where two air ambulances were called to fly them to Melbourne.

Police believe a small fan heater sparked the blaze when it short circuited while the children were taking an afternoon nap in a bedroom at the rear of the house.
