Benalla police investigate suspicious fires

Police want information about several small suspicious fires during the past few weeks.

Benalla police are investigating several suspicious small fires in the area.

The latest fire was a roadside grass fire on Saturday.

Police said the fire was started about 100m south of housing estate The Culdesac on the Baddaginnie-Benalla Rd.

They said they were investigation several small fires that had occurred during the past few weeks.

Senior Sergeant Mark Byers urged people to come forward with information and encouraged suspicious behaviour to be reported.

‘‘People who commit bushfire arson are not always strangers, they often live and work in the local community’’ Sen Sgt Byers said.

Police ask callers take note of the description of any suspicious vehicles or persons.
