Do your parents let you watch inappropriate movies that you shouldn’t be watching?

After interviewing a number of students at Guthrie St Primary School the answers is yes.

However, Lynne Gration a teacher at Guthrie St Primary School said the people who rated the movie or show had better knowledge about what was in the movie than she did.

‘‘Yes I would let my children watch the movie without myself watching it first sometimes, but I would tell my children that if they saw or heard something bad not to repeat that thing ever,’’ Mr Donovan, a teacher at Guthrie St Primary School said.

Robbie in Year 6 said he was allowed to watch M and MA-rated movies without his parents watching first.

Another student, Macey Brauman, 12, is not allowed to watch an M or MA-rated movie without her mother or father watching it first, for reasons such as swearing, violence, and sex scenes that may be in the movie.

When discussing the topic with Year 3 student Anna, she was not allowed to watch M or MA-rated movies at all, with or without her parents watching it first.

This is because of all the swearing, violence, and sex scenes that may be in the movie.
