Seymour's A-grade netball side made to pay for lapse in otherwise good effort against Benalla.By Chalpat Sonti
It was hard, it was physical, and for all but two minutes it was close.
Seymour’s A-grade netball side stuck gamely with higher-ranked Benalla, but a brief lapse in concentration proved costly as the Lions slid to a 42-34 defeat.
‘‘For that two minutes they (Benalla) started to get quite physical,’’ coach Ash Chapman said.
‘‘Our players were mildly intimidated I think and though they got back into the swing of things it was too late. It was just that loss of concentration.’’
Chapman was happy with his side’s effort, given a 10-goal loss in the first round.
Standouts included defender Sarah Szczykulski — ‘‘she kept persisting on a physical player and did a great job for us and was a great option on the centre pass which isn’t often common with a goal defence’’ — and shooters Millie Brock and Ellie O’Sullivan.
