Tallarook, Seymour, Alexandra and Kilmore firefighters joined a strike team from across Hume Region to assist in fighting the devastating NSW bushfires.
Firefighters Jeff Madex (Seymour) Jason Hutson, Shane Moore, Geoff Briggs (Tallarook), Toby Dean (Alexandra), John Scicluna (Kilmore) and strike team leader Noel Arandt crewed Tallarook fire brigade’s new tanker and the Mitchell Shire Group forward control vehicle.
Seymour member Dave Paynter drove a Seymour Coaches coach which transported this crew plus the crews from Oxley Flats, Everton, Longwood and Strathbogie which made up the balance of the team.
The team travelled to Yass on Friday and was tasked from there to work day shifts on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and returned on Tuesday.
CFA organised a replacement strike team to depart on Monday including members from Yea.
If an additional relief strike team is required later in the week, Alexandra Group is expected to provide a crew.
