Work has started on the dismantling of the superstructure of the Old Goulburn River Bridge.

These shots were taken from the Northwood Rd end on Friday, and show what has been uncovered.

This work, which is expected to be finished by the end of July, is costing about $397000, of which Mitchell Shire Council is providing $55000, with the rest from Victorian Government agencies.

The work was considered essential to ensure the bridge survived while its fate was decided, and the work needed to get under way before the end of the financial year under the conditions of the major funder, Regional Development Victoria, which had granted $250000 towards the bridge restoration.
