No downer for Daniel
Tallarook to host fundraiser for World Down Syndrome Day.
A Tallarook family will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by hosting a T4321 tea to raise funds for, and awareness of, the issue.
On World Down Syndrome Day people across the world celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome. It is an opportunity to recognise the importance of inclusion and diversity and how positively these values can impact workplace, home life and community.
Linda Kennedy will host a morning tea at 10.45
As parents of a seven-year-old with Down syndrome, the Kennedys say they have personally experienced how wonderful true inclusion can be.
Their son Daniel is fully included both at the school and within the local community.
‘‘We are lucky to live in such a wonderful part of Victoria,’’ Ms Kennedy said.
‘‘Last year we received amazing support and Tallarook Primary School won a trip to Carlton Football Club as a result of being the highest fundraising school. Thank you for your generous support and for helping us to raise awareness.’’
This year they will sell raffle tickets to be drawn at the morning tea. The raffle prizes have been generously supported by Betta Electrical, Mitchell Irrigation Services, Denis Kilmartin Pharmacy, Chris’s Timber and Hardware, Flavour Gourmet Foods, Seymour Toyworld, The Seymour Club and there may be more items yet.
‘‘The support for my efforts in raising funds for Down Syndrome Victoria is heartwarming,’’ Ms Kennedy said.
‘‘Please feel free to come along. Tallarook Primary mums put on a wonderful morning tea. I hope to see you there.’’
