Nagambie flexes its muscle before derby

Lakers thump Violet Town but lose a promising defender to injury.

A 97-point away win might seem as comfortable as it can get, but according to Nagambie coach Linc Sullivan there wasn’t that much in it as his side beat Violet Town on Saturday.

The Lakers had their kicking boots on and, thanks to 10 majors from Paddy Rattray and six from Tommy Stevens, piled on an impressive 28 goals.

But the win came at a cost too. Defender Mark Nolan had a good start to the season ruined by a wrist injury that will see him out for six weeks.

While the scorecard shows a consistent effort from Nagambie, it didn’t tell the full story.
