A seven-year itch has finally been scratched — and didn’t the Avenel A-grade netball side pick the right day to do it.
The Swans beat the old enemy Nagambie for the first time since 2007 with a 55-43 victory in the KDL elimination final at Violet Town on Sunday.
It was a win built on defensive pressure and experience.
Once Avenel got ahead it made the Lakers work twice as hard for every goal, while goalers Niki Lord and Tegan Sidebottom either hit the target or got second chances to do so.
