The Mitchell Fixed Wing Aero Club held its inaugural Bipe and Bushplane Day at its Hilldene field on Sunday — and the day was a success by any measure.

There were 19 registered pilots — about double the number expected — from Camperdown to Echuca and quite a few places in between, who put on some great exhibitions despite a strong crosswind.

The club’s Barry Dunn said those who travelled were full of praise for the facility.

‘‘They can’t believe what we’ve achieved here in the past 12 months,’’ Mr Dunn said.

The club aims to make the day an annual event.
