Big crowd for Nagambie auction

About 100 people crammed into a room at Nagambie’s Comfort Inn on Saturday hoping to see some real estate action — and they weren’t disappointed.

Ray White Nagambie held its first in-room auction for the year, and with the market on nearby there were plenty who filed through the doors.

Five waterfront properties were listed for sale, though one, at Backwater Ct, Kirwans Bridge, was sold privately the night before.

Bidding was most spiritied on a 2.288ha lot at Wattlevale Rd. The property is between Mitchelton and Tabilk wineries and has approval for six units, with 172m of Goulburn River frontage.

After an opening bid of $665000, there was a prolonged duel between two parties keen for the property. On the 27th bid, the original bidder was successful after going to $751000.

The old school house property at Kettles Rd, Kirwans Bridge, was sold to a successful bid of $175000, while another nearby at McLeods Rd was passed in at a vendor bid of $450000, but later in the day was sold conditional on finance.

A two-bedroom holiday home at Baxters Rd, Goulburn Weir, was initially passed in at $351000 but sold soon after to the bidder.

Ray White Nagambie principal Mark Boyer said he was very happy with the result of the day, with the bidding on the Wattlevale Rd property a great example of why properties should go to auction.

The next auction is likely to be in four to five weeks’ time.
