It didn’t take long for Avenel’s A-grade netball side to gel as a team and the Swans got their season on the board with a 44-25 win against Violet Town on Saturday.
Coming off the error-riddled loss to Stanhope, Avenel opened its account at home in good style, racing to an early lead and winning every quarter.
It was a win built on defence, with outstanding backcourters Sarah Milne and Jacinta Jamison well supported by Dee Thompson and later Paige Hockley.
