Two people were taken to Echuca hospital with minor injuries after a two-car accident in Ballendella on Sunday.

Sergeant Dale Simm of Rochester police said a Commodore wagon and a tray ute collided at the intersection of Praire and Restdown roads about 3pm.

Sgt Simm said the Commodore wagon had been travelling east on Praire Rd and a tray ute travelling north on Restdown Rd when the accident happened.

Paramedics and the Campaspe Highway patrol attended the scene.

The driver of the Commodore, an 18-year-old Rochester man, and a 16-year-old female passenger from Bamawm were taken to Echuca hospital.

The 18-year-old female driver of the ute, also from Bamawm, was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Sgt Simm urged all drivers to be vigilant on district roads over the New Year period.

‘‘Be wary of your surroundings while driving, there is a lot more traffic on roads this time of year,’’ he said.

‘‘If you’re not sure, stop and have a good look.’’
